When
you jog or run does it feel like one fluid motion, or more like a
pounding, painful exercise? Do you feel taller & stronger
afterward, or tired & sore? Do injuries & pain keep you from
having a regular practice?
If your whole body is working
together and your skeleton is aligned, your joints can take a lot of
force. If not, your muscles, tendons and ligaments have to catch your weight with each step,
and that is how many sports injuries occur. But it's not strong muscles
that keep your bones in place. The important thing is what your nervous
system is telling your muscles to do, based on what it senses and what
"feels right."
These Awareness Through Movement®
lessons help you develop movement that is both fluid and stable.
Discover what your own habits are, and identify different options that may be more efficient. This class is appropriate for walkers too! Each student works
independently and at their own pace.
There will be a very short "test run" at the beginning and end of every class. If you are a runner, bring your running shoes. However, the lessons themselves are very quiet, so wear warm, layered clothing. | .
